Fairfax Water announces the retirement of General Manager Jamie Bain Hedges, who will conclude her distinguished service on July 31, 2026. Throughout her 37 years of service, Ms. Hedges has been a central leader within the organization, guiding Fairfax Water with dedication, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service.
Board Chair Philip W. Allin extended the Board’s sincere appreciation for Ms. Hedges’ service and contributions, noting her enduring impact on the organization and the community it serves. A copy of the Board’s proclamation honoring her service can be found here. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors also commended Ms. Hedges at a recent meeting.
As Fairfax Water prepares for this transition, the Board is conducting a nationwide search to identify the next General Manager.
Deputy General Manager Scott Dewhirst will serve as Interim General Manager beginning August 1. Fairfax Water will share updates as the search for a new General Manager progresses.
