Fairfax Water Willard Road Maintenance Facility

October 17, 2019
Fairfax Water Willard Road Maintenance Facility

Project Status: October 18, 2019

This project received approval of its Special Exception and 2232 applications from the Fairfax County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors. The project will now begin the Fairfax County Site Plan Review and detailed facility design.

Fairfax Water is proposing to build a new Willard Road Maintenance Facility at 14925 Willard Road to serve as a base of operations for the meter shop, water distribution system crews and other staff responsible for both routine and emergency maintenance activities for the public water distribution system. The proposed location has access to major roads, is zoned for industrial use and allows for a quick response time to the surrounding service area.

The latest site plan can be seen below, which includes a fueling station, vehicle wash, materials and vehicle storage, and a building that houses a warehouse, meter shop, administrative spaces, distribution and fleet maintenance areas.

The architectural façade is intended to blend into the surrounding development, while the site layout will screen the storage areas and place larger equipment to the rear of the property.
