Deadline and Timeline
Application Deadline
- Emailed and online applications are due by 11:45 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026.
- Mailed applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2026.
Grant Process Timeline
- February 2026: Applications open
- May 15, 2026: Applications due
- July 2026: Fairfax Water Board Considers Applications
- August 2026: Grant Recipients are Announced
Eligible Project Areas
Use the interactive map to find projects available for your address.
The project must address issues within areas served by Fairfax Water or watersheds located in one of these jurisdictions:
- Counties of Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Fauquier
- Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, Manassas Park
- Towns of Herndon, Vienna
The grant program guidelines include maps with specific areas of eligibility.
Eligible Organizations
- Local and state government education and environmental agencies
- Homeowners associations
- Civic groups
- Not-for-profit organizations
Types of Projects
Eligible projects could include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Education
Seminars, programs, or displays on hydrology, water treatment processes, distribution, non-point source pollution, erosion and sediment control, water quality monitoring, or any related topic. - Water Quality Monitoring
Stream flow measurement, water quality constituent concentration, biological health, or erosion. - Watershed Protection
Stream restoration, non-point source pollution management, or other activities aimed at improving water quality within Fairfax Water’s watershed. - Shoreline Stabilization
Property owners may apply for a grant to support stabilization projects aimed at restoring the shoreline along the Occoquan Reservoir, in accordance with Fairfax Water’s Shoreline Easement Policy.
