In observance of Customer Service Week 2025, Fairfax Water’s Customer Service Team celebrated with games, prizes, and a food drive to celebrate the importance of our customer service professionals. This celebration takes place every October and is something the team looks forward to each year due to the opportunities for team-building events and to celebrate the team’s accomplishments. Each year has a unique theme, and for 2025, a secret agent theme brought an interesting twist to the celebration.
“This year’s theme was ‘Mission Possible.’ Throughout the week, staff were given an envelope with a different mission,” said Triconne Gordon, Customer Contact Supervisor, Fairfax Water. “The first mission was to show all customers courtesy and respect. Other missions included crossword puzzles related to customer service, a scavenger hunt, a ‘Name that Baby Contest’ with staff-submitted baby pictures, and bingo games.”

Perhaps the most impactful part of the week was the annual food drive. Each year, Fairfax Water Customer Service personnel engage in friendly competition amongst their teams to donate the most food to Food for Others, a charity organization that seeks to provide food for needy families and individuals in the national capital region. Each year, the floor is marked with tape for each Customer Service team to fill for a little friendly competition. And each year, the floor is filled. This year, team members were able to collect and donate 2,947 pounds of food.
“This remarkable act of generosity and compassion speaks volumes about the heart of this team,” stated Christopher Long, Manager of the Customer Service Department. “Congratulations to everyone for making such a meaningful impact!”
Matthew Mitchell, Program Supervisor, Customer Field Services, agreed that the food drive showed the spirit of the team. “Being involved in this food drive makes me prouder of the people I work with, who contributed than any other program or project. What the Customer Service team has done is just fantastic. Many of them are living on tight budgets themselves, yet they opened their hearts to help others.”
